Who knew that your soon-to-be husband or wife just lives next door?
It’s not your usual beginning of a love story, but Sam and Roy’s romance started just like that.
Way back in 2012, Sam was part of the traditional Santa Cruzan. Dressed as beautifully as a princess, she was paraded around the streets of her village and unknowingly caught the eye of a random stranger─ Roy. Instantly wanting to get her attention, he shouted “ate, papicture” (miss, can I have a picture with you?), but Sam didn’t hear him.
After that first encounter, Sam was all Roy could think about. How astonishing it was for him to find out from his aunts that Sam was actually his next-door neighbour! Turns out, their families are even friends. After a few months, Roy’s aunt went to Sam’s house. She woke Sam up just to ask for her number so she can give it to Roy and even asked if she would go on a date with him; although Sam set her own conditions for the date, she still said yes! It’s safe to say that Roy has the best aunts in the world.
Since then, Sam and Roy saw each other nearly every day ─ it was easy of course, being neighbours with each other. How lucky! They finally got together and after six years, Sam graduated and Roy didn’t waste any more time; he bent the knee and proposed.
And here they are at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Antipolo, about to be married! We were so excited, especially because it was a morning wedding. Although morning weddings could be challenging because of the early call time (we need to leave our office by 2 in the morning since we have to start shooting as early as 4), morning weddings are great because of one thing – the morning light. This always results in beautifully-lit portraits. You can see below how Sam’s pictures turned out! Flattering sunlight + beautiful bride = a perfect portrait shoot!
One thing that really surprised us was the bridal entrance! Sam, a professional singer, sang Una’t Huling Pag-Ibig by Yeng Constantino as she walked down the aisle. And even if Roy had heard her sing countless times, this time was beyond special. His reaction to her entrance was a reflection of pure love. It was one of the most touching things we had ever seen.
Sam and Roy’s color pegs were powder blue, blush pink, and grey. It was a minimalist touch to complement the Church. It turned out really well and it emphasized the soothing beauty of simplicity. Now that you know their adorable love story, check out their intimate wedding celebration below!
